History of our building, as presented by Superintendent, Dr. Scott Patrick at the March School Board Meeting 2017.

As the school district progressed through the 1960’s, student enrollment began to accelerate and thus the need for additional space.  In 1963, the new high school was constructed, which of course is the building we are now meeting in.  This building then became Warrensburg Middle School in 1987.  When the new middle school was built in 1996, this building was re-named Nellie Hart Sterling Elementary.

Added information: Nellie Hart Sterling was then a fourth and fifth grade building until 2011. This was the year that both Martin Warren and Sterling buildings became a third, fourth and fifth grade building. Maple Grove had been built and both it and Ridge view became a kindergarten through second grade buildings.

Sterling Hours: Doors open at 7:50 a.m. Students are then dismissed to their classrooms at 8:15 with the official start time of school being 8:20am. Dismissal from Sterling is 3:20pm.

Do I Know if School is Closed for Inclement Weather? There are several ways you can find out if school is closed. First KOKO Radio, 1450 AM; KMBC - Channel 9; Parents can register to receive  text or voice messages ; the district website http://www.warrensburgr6.org ; or the district information telephone line 747-5062. These same postings will announce any changes in start times or early dismissals. Our district wants to ensure that students are safe and can arrive and be home safely.
